Detroit to NYC

Max the poodle and I am doing a car camping road trip to the Port on Manhatten Island NYC.  Got to get there on Sunday 2:00pm so we are working with four and a half days to camp and hike.  We (Max and I) originally thought we would just do the biggest peaks in New York, Vermont and New Hampshire because we are studs.  Upon further review it just looks like all day slogs without a lot of bang, especially Mt Washington in NH, which is completely drivable and very populous during the day.  Max thought maybe we should turn things inside out and do multiple short hikes to keep it interesting and not get stuck one just one.  Smart dog, turns out there are lots of 1-2-3 mile hikes to overlooks, waterfalls and fire towers we can climb for 360 degree views.  Perfect.  Except we have to do one bigger one so on the last day before the big push to NYC we are going to do Mt Lafayette in NH.  It is a loop of around 9 miles, no road access and a friend of mine vacationing in Maine is going to come over and join us on the hike.

Out and about for breakfast

Just booked the flight to San Antonio TX in March.  Five plus hour drive from the airport to Big Bend National Park on the Texas, Mexico Boarder.  New Nikon camera body in hand and ready to go.

Florida North To The Mitten

The Florida return road trip.  1350 miles.  20 hours.  No stops.  At least that was the plan.  Atlanta has it’s own plans anytime during the work week unless it is after 10:00pm.  We re-routed and re-routed so you never really know if you are saving anytime or just moving.  I do prefer to move.  Anyway we only got to Knoxville when a big rain storm hit so we just grab a hotel and went downtown, “Yelped” an Italian hipster place and had a great dinner while it poured outside.  In the morning found a cute breakfast biscuit place on a side street and a line to get your name in.

Come on,  plastic noses, really?  Not sure what to make of this.  I just hope that they really enjoyed making them for themselves.
